Over the years Newcastle Airport has been recognised for its contribution to the business and tourism industry. The Airport was named the 2005 Regional Airport of the Year by the Australian Airports Association; a significant achievement as this award is judged by airport peers and was timely recognition of the Airport's major terminal development.

More recently, Newcastle Airport was the proud recipient of the Gold Award in the Specialised Tourism Services Category at the 2011 Australian Tourism Awards. A national award that recognised the Airport's commitment to tourism in the region.
