Media Release 21/11/2012

In July, and for the second successive month, Newcastle Airport had passenger growth of more than 5% when compared with passenger numbers of July 2009.

Traditionally a strong month with school holiday traffic, the July 2010 figure of 101,802 was also buoyed with the introduction of a second Jetstar Gold Coast service to meet increased demand.

Newcastle Airport Manager Corporate Affairs, David Nye said that “both June and July 2010 have outperformed the corresponding months of 2009 which gives an indication of confidence returning to the market post GFC.”

July was also the first time the Airport passed the 100,000 passenger number mark since October 2009.

“After a slow start to the year, we hope to see this trend continue which will enable us to reach our forecast of 1.17 million passengers for 2010,” concluded David.

  2009 2010 % as a difference
June 84,108 88,934 5.74%
