Aviation careers set for take-off

Today, the Newcastle Airport precinct will host high school students from across the region with a passion for aviation at the annual Newcastle Airport Aviation Careers Day. This free-of-charge event showcases careers, training and employment opportunities in the aviation industry.

Now in its fourth year, the Aviation Careers Day continues to receive exceptional feedback from students, teachers and parents. This year the event will welcome more than 120 students from 15 high schools.

The Aviation Careers Day offers students a taste of the variety of jobs available in the aviation industry. Students participate in behind-the-scenes tours and information sessions conducted by respected industry representatives and managers. The chance to get up close to aircraft and view the inside a working hangar is a highlight of the day.

The Aviation Careers Day is initiative driven by Newcastle Airport and supported by the aviation precinct to raise the awareness of careers in the aviation and aerospace industry to high school students.

Newcastle Airport CEO, Paul Hughes commends the vision of the precinct in driving awareness of aviation careers. “The growth of Newcastle Airport as a leading aerospace centre presents exciting aviation-related job opportunities.

It is tremendous to see our aviation partners working together to ensure that in the future we will have a highly skilled work-force to meet the demand,” Paul said.

“The Newcastle Airport Aviation Careers Day is a fantastic opportunity for students to come and learn how to make the most of a career in aviation.”
