Interruption to civil operations

Civil operations from Newcastle Airport may be interrupted next Monday, 0830 to 1730hrs, and Friday, 0830 to 1530hrs, due to scheduled military exercises.

It is anticipated that civil aircraft movements could be affected during this time, due to the operating length of the runway being reduced for safety reasons.
Newcastle Airport CEO, Paul Hughes, said that affected airlines have been notified of the scheduled military exercises.

“The airlines have been notified of the scheduled military exercises next week, which may result in possible disruptions to scheduled civil services.

“We suggest that passengers contact their airline to reconfirm their travel time on these days,” said Mr Hughes.

Whilst any disruption to civil operations is regrettable, Newcastle Airport recognises that these exercises are important military procedures.

Newcastle Airport operates on land leased from the Department of Defence and works collaboratively with RAAF Base, Williamtown, on all aviation related matters.
