First flight to Dubbo takes off
Monday, 18 July 2016

Today Newcastle Airport and FlyPelican celebrated the inaugural Newcastle to Dubbo flight.

The flight left Newcastle Airport on schedule at 6.30am.

Prior to take off, passengers and crew celebrated the launch of the new service with zoo-themed cupcakes, balloons, and gift bags for passengers.

FlyPelican will operate this double-daily service Monday to Friday. The service expands the airline’s network from Newcastle which already includes direct services to Sydney, Canberra, and Ballina / Byron Bay.

“FlyPelican is truly a Hunter success story; and they continue to go from strength to strength. Starting with services to Canberra and Sydney just 12 months ago, they’ve added Ballina / Byron Bay and now Dubbo to their network,” commented Newcastle Airport’s CEO Dr Peter Cock.

“The commencement of this service is a great way to kick off the new financial year. It not only will offer almost 20,000 additional seats a year to regional New South Wales, it also links the Hunter and Newcastle, our state’s second largest city, to a major regional centre.

”We continue to work with, and lobby, airlines to provide the people of our region additional and new links to-and-from the Hunter—to regional NSW, around the country, and around the world,” concluded Peter.

Flights between Newcastle and Dubbo start from $99 inclusive of all taxes and bookings are available at www.flypelican.com.au

Ends.
