National Volunteers Week

Regular visitors to Newcastle Airport would be familiar with the Newcastle Airport Ambassadors, identifiable by their teal blazer and happy smile. This week Newcastle Airport celebrated the one-year anniversary of its successful Ambassador Program in conjunction with National Volunteers Week, 11 to 17 May.

At the annual Hunter Volunteer Centre awards, the Newcastle Airport Ambassador program was recognised for its contribution to the world of volunteering and was awarded ‘Best Practice in Volunteer Management.’

“Volunteers are an integral part of our culture,” said Paul Hughes, CEO Newcastle Airport. “Many community projects and initiatives rely on volunteers and thanks to Newcastle Airport’s award-winning Ambassador Program, travellers enjoy a friendly welcome next time they visit the Airport.”

In celebration of this milestone, Newcastle Airport will host a celebratory function for its Ambassadors, in recognition of the indispensable service they provide for users of Newcastle Airport.
