Increased Jetstar flights benefits

Travellers through Newcastle Airport are set to benefit from even more direct flights from Newcastle to the Gold Coast and Melbourne.

Jetstar today announced it will increase its services from Newcastle with an additional 14 weekly return services. It will reintroduce a third daily return flight from Melbourne from 7 March 2010 and services to the Gold Coast will be boosted from one flight per day to a dailydouble from 8 July 2010. These extra flights equate to a 30% increase or 5,000 per week additional seats to existing Jetstar services from Newcastle Airport. Newcastle Airport CEO, Paul Hughes, said that the announcement of these additional services demonstrates the importance of Newcastle in the Jetstar network.

“The introduction of these services will provide passengers of Newcastle Airport with greater choice and will also have a positive impact on our local economy.

“Following a tough year in aviation Newcastle Airport managed to match its record results from 2008 and this announcement is a positive reinforcement for future growth in 2010.

“We welcome Jetstar’s support and look forward to welcoming passengers on these services,” concluded Paul.
