About Newcastle Airport

Newcastle Airport is a major gateway into the Hunter region, 25 minutes drive north of Newcastle.

Newcastle Airport is owned by Newcastle City Council and Port Stephens Council. It is located on 28 hectares of land, which is leased from the Department of Defence. Newcastle Airport shares the runway with RAAF Base Williamtown, which is located opposite the terminal building.

The Airport plays an important role in the Hunter region’s economy. It contributes $465.5 million to the local economy annually.

There are around 140 domestic flights that depart from Newcastle Airport each week. A weekly flight departing for Norfolk Island is Newcastle Airport’s only international flight.

All passengers arrive and depart from the one terminal. Planning is currently underway to expand the existing terminal.
