Background

The Newcastle Airport Schools Program was developed in 2005 in support of the Human Society and its Environment (HSIE) Syllabus for Stage 1 students. The HSIE Syllabus provides an opportunity for students to explore the world of Transport and Workers in the Community.

The Newcastle Airport Schools Program provides a one-off opportunity to experience a busy airport and transport hub up close.

Since its inception, this free-of-charge Program has proven to be enormously popular with schools from all over the surrounding regions. In 2009 alone more than 3,000 students participated in the Schools Program and repeat bookings have been taken for 2009.

An airport representative will visit the school prior to the excursion to provide students with key information on what they will see on their excursion
(Due to travel time, this stage of the Program is dependent on the location of the school)

Airport excursion
A behind-the-scenes tour of the Airport where students will view the check-in area, security screening point, tarmac, baggage handling area and Terminal Operation Centre.
