Travel advice for passengers using Newcastle Airport
18-19 September

On 18-19 September, RAAF Base Williamtown will be hosting the Australian Defence Force Air Show. The weekend will include a flying program featuring current Defence Force and historical aircraft, plus retail stalls and an expo.
 
The Air Show is expected to attract more than 30,000 people each day, with visitors from all over the region and beyond coming to Williamtown to witness this unique event.
 
If you are booked on flights or are visiting Newcastle Airport to pick-up/drop-off passengers on the weekend of the Air Show, please be advised of the following:

• A special traffic plan will be activated during the two-day event on the roads leading to RAAF Base Williamtown and Newcastle Airport. Traffic congestion and delays are expected. Therefore, travellers are urged to factor in additional time.
  Passengers departing from Newcastle Airport should aim to arrive at the Airport three hours before their flight.
• To gain entry into a Newcastle Airport car park, you may be asked to show proof of flying. If you are arriving at the Airport to pick-up passengers, please ensure you know the flight number for the passenger you are picking-up. This will allow us to ensure our passengers have normal access to Airport facilities. Air Show attendees will not be permitted to park in Newcastle Airport car parks.
• Air Show attendees will not be permitted to view the air display from inside the terminal or around the Airport precinct. The car park entries will be staffed to ensure that access is restricted to Newcastle Airport passengers only. Air Show attendees will be required to park in one of the car parks designated by RAAF Base Williamtown.
• Passengers are advised to reconfirm flight times with their airline one week before the Air Show. Any further questions regarding flights on 18 and 19 September should be raised directly with your airline.
• Normal airport facilities will be available within the terminal for passengers.
