The Position

Reporting into the Executive Manager Property and Commercial, this position will see you responsible for the overall delivery of the Astra Aerolab’s Growth Strategy. You will develop leasing opportunities by building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders, as well as potential and existing tenants. You will drive business development in the fields of aviation, defence, and aerospace, along with research and education; coupled with freight, logistics and other commercial business activities.
Additionally, you will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to enhance the reach of Newcastle Airport’s marketing campaigns to drive the Astra Aerolab.

Key Accountabilities

  • Negotiation and execution of agreements with lease partners and tenants, as required.
  • Work with existing and prospective lease partners regarding development of business activities at Newcastle Airport.
  • Management of key stakeholder relationships in the areas of defence, aviation industry, government, property industry, airport, and airline stakeholders.
  • Ability to influence external stakeholders to ensure alignment with Astra Aerolab’s business plan and objectives.
  • Develop and execute viable business for partnership opportunities to support the business plan objectives across Astra for leasing avenues particularly within the Aviation, Defence and Aerospace sectors.
  • Management, execution and delivery of the Astra Aerolab business plan objectives.
  • Monthly Board reporting and presentation.

The Successful Candidate

  • MUST have previous experience within the Defence sector, coupled with a strong industry knowledge.
  • You will display strong tenacity with the ability to drive process.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • You will be a team player who enjoys working within a high performing team that delivers on key accountabilities.
  • Proven ability to identify, develop and convert business opportunities.
  • Demonstrated success with influencing and negotiating with senior stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the highest and strictest levels of safety.
