In May 2020, the NSW Government named Williamtown as the location for a new special Activation Precinct. The Astra Aerolab is being developed as a globally significant Defence and Aerospace precinct adjacent to the Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown. It has secured significant investment and support from all levels of government and is set to ultimately deliver 5,500 new jobs and global connectivity, providing access to world-leading education and learning, remarkable spaces and experiences.
The primary purpose of the role is to work together with the IT team to deliver outstanding IT and Systems support at Newcastle Airport. Day to day this involves managing and maintaining Newcastle Airport’s technology systems, supporting end users in the operation of these systems and effective provision of IT support which includes the following elements:
- General desktop and software support
- Operating system and application support
- Car park systems maintenance and support
- Maintaining and auditing security controls as required
- On call support as required
- Continuous improvement activities

Qualifications and experience
Minimum 2 years experience in the IT industry
Tertiary Qualifications in Information Technology or equivalent experience
Extensive experience supporting Microsoft operating systems, business applications, networks, and remote access systems
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot software and hardware issues in a corporate environment
A customer centric attitude and approach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong levels of initiative and proactivity, with effective problem-solving skills
Ability to analyse, isolate and interpret business needs and deliver appropriate technical solutions
Availability to work outside of standard business hours and participate in an on-call roster
Experience working with best practice frameworks and standards such as ITIL
Experience in maintenance of IT infrastructure solutions
Technical Support background
IT and Systems change management experience
