Over the years Newcastle Airport has been recognised for its contribution to the business and tourism industry. The Airport was named the 2005 Regional Airport of the Year by the Australian Airports Association; a significant achievement as this award is judged by airport peers and was timely recognition of the Airport's major terminal development.
More recently, Newcastle Airport was the proud recipient of Major Airport of the Year at the 2018 Australian Airports Association National Airport Industry Awards
Newcastle Airport has been named Major Airport of the Year 2018 by Australia's peak airport body, the Australian Airports Association (AAA).
Major Airport of the Year is awarded annually to an airport with over 500,000 annual passengers who displays excellence across all aspects of airport operations and development.
Newcastle Airport won the Gold Award in the Specialised Tourism Services category at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, held in Cairns.
Having won the award at state level, the national awards pitted the Airport against the winners from the states and territories.
The Airport was recognised as a significant gateway to the Hunter region, and as a major transport hub, critical to the economic and social infrastructure of the Hunter.
Newcastle Airport won the Gold Award in the Specialised Tourism Services category at the 2011 NSW Tourism Awards.
This award came just two days after Newcastle Airport was presented the Major Airport of the Year Award by the Australian Airports Association.
The Australian Airports Association's (AAA) prestigious National Airport Industry Awards are the only industry-recognised awards of their type and acknowledge leadership and excellence in Australian Aviation and airport management.
Newcastle Airport was awarded Major Airport of the year in 2011 in recognition of our Airport Schools Program.
