Astra Aerolab is a globally significant Defence and Aerospace precinct being developed adjacent to the Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown, which is set to ultimately deliver 5,500 new jobs and global connectivity, providing access to world-leading education and learning, remarkable spaces and experiences.

The Opportunity
As the Human Resources and Organisational Development Manager you will be responsible for leading, developing and delivering Newcastle Airport’s key HR strategies and operational deliverables. In this hands on role, you will lead a small team in the provision of expert advice and support across the business on all HR matters including, but not limited to, culture and engagement, learning and development, remuneration and benefits, interpretation and compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures, workplace relations, recruitment and retention, workforce planning, performance management and reporting.

In addition, you will be responsible for promoting continuous improvement principles and a culture that embraces a continuous improvement attitude, providing organisational development support and strategies to ensure business objectives are met.

This opportunity is offered as a full time, 10 - 12 month maternity relief contract. We are also open to considering a part-time, 4 day per week arrangement for the right candidate.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • previous experience in Human Resources management and Organisational Development;
  • expert knowledge of, and experience in, the application of contemporary HR, workplace relations and organisational development practices and procedures;
  • demonstrated ability to lead, coach and motivate a team effectively;
  • experience developing and delivering internal training;
  • experience in the development and implementation of HR strategies, systems and projects;
  • exceptional time management skills;
  • understanding of and the ability to interpret relevant legislation, regulations and Awards, preferably within the NSW state-based system;
  • well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills to enable identification of issues and the judgement to determine appropriate courses of action to achieve long term organisational objectives;
  • effective communication skills, with demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships across all levels;
  • high level verbal and logical reasoning skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organisation; and
  • experience using and/or implementing HR information systems an advantage.
