The ultimate Surfest experience

Thursday, 24 January 2013

When surfboards are as common in the airport as suitcases, it usually means one thing: it’s Surfest time in Newcastle.
Newcastle Airport, a long-term Surfest supporter, has this year partnered with the event’s organisers to host a photo competition offering punters the ultimate Surfest experience.
The Airport is inviting surfing and photography aficionados from throughout Newcastle and the rest of Australia to upload their summer-related photographs via an app on the Airport’s Facebook page (, or by using the hashtag #NTLsurfestcomp on their pictures on Instagram and Twitter.
The winner will be flown from wherever they may be across our sunburnt country, to experience the Surfest finals weekend as a VIP and rub shoulders with the crème de la crème of surfing, such as reigning world champions Joel Parkinson and Stephanie Gilmore who are set to hit the beach at Merewether during the event.
As well as this money-can’t-buy experience, the winner will receive a limited edition Surfest t-shirt, signed by local surfing legend Mark Richards, and a Canon EOS 1100 DSLR camera.
A People’s Choice prize will also be awarded the photo with the most votes on the Airport’s Facebook app when the competition closes on Monday 18 February.
Photos can be entered on the Airport’s Facebook page or by using the hashtag #NTLsurfestcomp on Twitter or Instagram.
