Investing in our community

Newcastle Airport is committed to contributing to, and investing in, our local community through our Community Engagement Program.

We believe it is important that our local community shares in the success of Newcastle Airport. This is why we actively engage with our local communities and work in partnership with stakeholders to help foster a sense of community and pride in the Airport's operations and our region.

Some of our long-term areas of focus and partnerships are outlined below:

Work experience

We recognise the need to support students in obtaining practical experience in a professional work environment. In support of this, and as part of our commitment to the community, Newcastle Airport will, from time-to-time, offer work placement for those students who have a passion for the aviation industry.

We endeavour to ensure that all work placement undertaken in Newcastle Airport’s work environment is mutually beneficial for the student and the Airport while promoting skills and learning within the aviation sector.

Those students wishing to undertake work experience at the Airport must be enrolled in a formal Work Experience program via a Registered Training Organisation.  Applications for work placement is a two stage process. First, the student must submit a formal request to Human Resources at Newcastle Airport and include (at a minimum) the following:

  • A student learning plan
  • The specific topics or tasks to be covered during the work experience
  • The number of work experience hours to be completed under the program
  • The outcomes of the work experience program
  • The outcomes the student hopes to achieve from the work placement experience
  • The insurances provided on behalf of the student
  • Why the student wants to undertake work placement at Newcastle Airport
  • An outline of interests the student has in the travel/transport/tourism industry/ies

Those applicants who are successful in this first stage will be invited to participate in the second stage, a formal interview process to ensure cultural fit is achieved.

Community and sport

Business and tourism

Altogether Perfect

Altogether Perfect is an initiative of Newcastle Convention Bureau, Destination Port Stephens, and Hunter Valley Wine and Tourism Association to attract business meetings, conferences, and events to the greater Hunter region.

As the gateway airport to this region, we proudly fly the flag as major partner.  Our region, which is Altogether Perfect, brings the city, the country, and the coast all in one region. From rolling hills to stunning beaches, from wine tasting to whale watching, and from intimate small group spaces to grand halls hosting hundreds; you'll be surprised by the quality and diversity offer, all within 45-minutes of each other.

Separately, each destination is quite special but altogether, they're perfect.
