Our environment

As a regional transport hub, Newcastle Airport recognises the importance of maintaining the highest standards of environmental management and has implemented systems to minimise the impact of Airport operations and expansion.

Newcastle Airport is committed to sustainability in operations and development, and is working closely with the New South Wales Government's Office of Environment and Heritage, Sustainability Advantage Program to implement programs aimed at improving performance in the areas of energy, water use, and waste reduction.

The Newcastle Airport Development Guidelines (incorporated within the Master Plan) assist in implementing Ecologically Sustainable Development standards and achieving high levels of environmental performance.

Newcastle Airport Pty Limited is committed to the health, safety, and welfare of people and the environment within the airport precinct. Newcastle Airport operates and maintains an Work Health Safety Environment Management System (WHSEMS) which is governed by Newcastle Airport's Work Health Safety Environment policy.
