Newcastle Airport, the second busiest Airport in the state, is experiencing the most exciting period of its 70-year history as it grows in size, aspiration, and influence.

It has expanded to encompass a world class Defence and Aerospace precinct, brought forward major works on its 2036 Masterplan and was named the 2021 Major Airport of the Year.

About the role: Commercial Finance Business Partner (Part Time - 3 days)

The role of the Commercial Finance Business Partner is to provide high quality financial forecasting and analysis, capital governance, participate in the development and implementation of strategic business initiatives and assist in the management of financial systems for the benefit of the property business 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development and coordination of the annual property budget and quarterly forecasting processes to ensure delivery of high-quality business planning around revenue, costs and capex, working with various stakeholders across the organisation. 
  • Investigation and interpretation of business drivers and trends in reporting on financial analytics including KPI’s, budgets and forecasts. 
  • Working closely with the broader finance team in the development of the high-level 20-year financial strategy.
  • Financial review, analysis and decision support for property strategic projects and new investments.
  • Influence the business outcomes through the accurate and meaningful analytical information that supports commercially sound business decisions.
  • Oversight of the management and development of financial assets and capital governance procedures.
  • Undertake financial business improvement projects and any other duties as directed.

About You

Essential:

  • Degree in Accounting / Commerce or Business. CPA / CA qualifications (or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in financial analysis and management accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of financial models for financial forecasting, budgeting and / or investment evaluation. 
  • High degree of problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to communicate financial reporting outcomes to a non-financial audience. 
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including thorough understanding of accounting standards.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and a high level of skill in other software applications.

Desirable:

  • Experience in using Technology One ERP system.
  • Experience in dashboard reporting.
  • Experience in the infrastructure sector or similar capital-intensive business.
