Newcastle Airport is ecstatic with Jetstar’s announcement that their direct service to Cairns will be taking off again from December 18 and that the season will extend at least until 30 April 2022.
Newcastle Airport CEO Peter Cock says the extension of the service is a resounding vote of confidence for our region.
“With the Victorian border due to open in a matter of weeks and Queensland following suit in December, this announcement by Jetstar is the result of the strong community support for this route.
“Our inaugural Cairns service, which launched earlier this year, was very popular, so to have it resume and extended out to 30 April 2022, is a real shot in the arm.”
“This Jetstar service will be a perfect solution to those who are looking to spread their wings and get away for a drop and flop holiday or do something more adventurous.”
“It offers the chance to travel to a tropical destination for the Christmas holiday period or enjoy an autumn break.”
